About

Lisa Hook Artist
With my paintings I am expressing my love for the countryside, and  particularly that of the North East of Scotland, which I know very well from over 30 years of visiting this part of the British Isles. The huge skies are familiar from my childhood spent in Northern Germany; the special ingredients in Scotland are the mountains untamed, the wonderful colours throughout the season and the constantly changing light, it is what I want to capture and preserve.

Lately I have also been captivated by a special area in southern France and the overall feeling of warmth and wellbeing is being expressed in my exuberant colours of the environment.

Background

Childhood in post war Northern Germany. Seeing the Alps for the first time during a school trip. Moving to Munich for 3 years and getting to know the mountains much better. Travelling to New Zealand on a 3 year working holiday and falling in love with a most beautiful and unspoilt country at the edge of the world. Returning to Europe in 1968, working in London, marrying an architect and bringing up two 2 children.

Foundation and Fine Arts Honours Degree Course at Camberwell College of Arts from 1988 – 1992.

  1. Hi Lisa – I like your website very much – very sophisticated and well designed! Your work rolls and unfolds as one scrolls down in a way that shows it off very well. I like your colour sense especially as you move into the purples and deeper tones! Vanessa V
